Privacy Policy
Your counts stay on your device. This page explains exactly what data this website handles and why.
The short version
- Your counts are stored only on your own device. We never receive them.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- The only personal data we receive is what you choose to send through the contact form.
Who we are
This website (Tally Counter) provides a free online tally counter. In this policy, “we” and “us” refer to the operator of this website. You can reach us through the contact page.
Your counting data
Counter names, counts, targets, history and settings are saved in your browser’s local storage on the device you are using. This data is never sent to our server or to any third party. It stays on your device until you delete it.
You can delete it at any time by deleting counters in the tool’s Settings or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. Using a private or incognito window means the data is removed when the window closes.
Information you send us
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this information only to read and reply to your message and to improve the tool. Messages are stored in this website’s administration area and forwarded to the site owner’s email inbox. We keep them for up to 24 months, then delete them. We do not sell or share this information, except with the service providers needed to run this website, such as hosting and email delivery.
Server logs and hosting
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used to keep the website secure and running, and are kept for a limited period set by the hosting provider. We do not use them to identify visitors.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies for visitors. The counter uses local storage, which stays on your device and is not sent with web requests. Site administrators who log in receive standard WordPress login cookies.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising services. If we add them in the future, for example to keep the tool free with advertising, we will update this policy before they go live and explain the cookies involved and how to opt out.
Fonts and external services
All fonts and files are served from this website. The pages do not load fonts, scripts or images from third-party services.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete any message you have sent us. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights over your personal data, including the right to object to processing and to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, use the contact page.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The counter itself works without collecting any personal information.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and the contact form is protected against automated spam. Because your counts never leave your device, they cannot be exposed by a breach of our server.
Terms of use
The tally counter is provided free of charge and as is, without any warranty. We work to make it accurate and reliable, but you are responsible for checking counts used for important decisions, such as safety limits or official records, and for exporting any data you need to keep. Please do not misuse the website, for example by attempting to disrupt it or sending spam through the contact form.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website changes. The date below shows when it was last updated. Significant changes, such as adding analytics or advertising, will be described here before they take effect.
